An analyst made a highly criticized statement about Matvei Michkov that left many fans very perplexed

The big topic that is currently causing a stir in Montreal, since we found out that the Canadiens will have the 5th pick in the 2023 Draft, is indeed that of forward Matvei Michkov.

As the majority of experts point out, in terms of pure talent, there is a group of five young players who dominate this class and then there is the rest. Among these top prospects, there is of course Connor Bedard, but also Adam Fantilli, Leo Carlsson, Will Smith, and Matvei Michkov.

The Tricolore has therefore technically been fortunate, even though they did not win the lottery, as the organization will have the chance to add one of these high-level talents.

However, since the club has the last choice among these five elite prospects, Kent Hughes and his team will most likely have to make a decision on the Russian player, who, due to his very complex situation, should be the last of the group to be selected.

In connection with this phenomenon perceived as the best Russian talent since Alexander Ovechkin, while he was on the "La Dose" podcast of TVA Sports, Renaud Lavoie expressed his concerns about the main interested party, and it is not even because of his three-year contract in the KHL, nor his native country.

"There are videos that exist of him this year where he is dragging his feet. I've seen a few of them. It's extremely worrying to see what he was doing on the ice," said Renaud Lavoie.

This statement from the journalist left many fans very perplexed.

To begin with, you can't make a concrete analysis by only seeing video clips. It's very easy to pinpoint game situations of any athlete, while they don't seem to be very involved in the game.

Like many people who haven't had the opportunity to watch Michkov's games, as he hasn't done any complete viewing of one of his games, Lavoie presents an argument using the term "extremely worrying." This takes away a lot of credibility from his statement.

Michkov, like many highly talented players, doesn't have the fierceness of a Brendan Gallagher, who made his career as a hard worker. However, he has nothing to do with a guy who drags his feet on the ice, quite the contrary.

He's a gamer and his potential is the closest to the generational talent of Connor Bedard in this class.
