The Coyotes received very bad news last night when the project they had set up to build a new amphitheater was rejected by the residents of Tempe, forcing the team to play at the Mullet Arena next season.

This decision has sparked huge controversy in the NHL, leading to many questions about the team's future in Arizona. This refusal was not well received by the Coyotes players who will, again next season, have to play in a facility that can only accommodate 5,000 fans.

Clayton Keller notably expressed his disappointment at this sad news a few minutes after the vote results were revealed.

However, Bryan Keller, Clayton's father, made a very controversial statement in response to the Coyotes' tweet. Indeed, he mentioned that his son would not play for the organization in 2023-2024 and that many players on the team would likely do the same.

"
Keller will not be there at the beginning of the season and expect others to follow or not sign." — Bryan Keller

It's hard to know whether he was just reacting in the heat of the moment or if he had a serious conversation with his son about the possibility of leaving the Coyotes, but one thing's for sure, it does not bode well for the organization.

Clayton Keller was the team's best player this season, setting a new personal best with a tally of 37 goals and 49 assists (86 points) in 82 games.
