Pierre Dorion's firing: Powerful statement from the former owner of the Montreal Canadiens

It was confirmed at the beginning of the season that Michael Andlauer officially became the owner of the Ottawa Senators. It didn't take him long to start making changes within the team.

While everyone had their eyes on Patrick Roy and the head coaching position, it's actually general manager Pierre Dorion who was let go today. Steve Staios will take over on an interim basis.

According to Andlauer, action needed to be taken after everything that has happened in the past month.

"In the last 10 days, we've had three losses, three injuries, a 41-game suspension, and the loss of a first-round pick."

Indeed, Shane Pinto was suspended for links to sports betting, and the Senators have just lost a first-round pick due to their involvement in the invalidated Evgeny Dadonov trade.

It's fair to say that all of this has had a significant impact in a very short period of time, and Dorion has been identified as paying the price internally.
