Byron Bedard, who works for the website HockeyProspecting.com, has compiled a list of all NHL teams to rank the organizations with the best prospects in their system, and Canadiens fans will be delighted to see that the Tricolore ranks 3rd in the Bettman circuit.

The Canadiens have several excellent young players in their ranks who could play an important role in the team's future:

Lane Hutson (19 years old) :
The defenseman dominated in his rookie NCAA season, scoring 15 goals and 33 assists in just 39 games, surpassing Cale Makar and Adam Fox in their first collegiate seasons. He was also nominated for the Hobey Baker Award, given to the best college player in the United States.

Sean Farrell (21 years old) :
The forward finished the year with 53 points in 34 games, ranking him second in the NCAA for points per game, ahead of Logan Cooley. He also scored a goal in six games with the Canadiens at the end of the season.

Owen Beck (19 years old) :
The Canadiens' second-round pick in 2022 recorded 66 points in 60 games with the Mississauga Steelheads and Peterborough Petes in the OHL. He impressed at last year's training camp, where he was one of the last players cut by the Canadiens.

Joshua Roy (19 years old) :
After a 119 point season in 66 games last year, the Quebec native picked up where he left off with 99 points in 55 games this year. So far, he has amassed 11 goals and 12 assists in 10 playoff games. Notably, the forward played a key role in team Canada's gold medal win at the World Juniors.

Logan Mailloux (20 years old) :
The Canadiens' first round pick finally played a full season and certainly did not disappoint. He finished the year with 25 goals and 28 assists in 59 games. His 25 goals led all OHL defensemen.

Riley Kidney (20 years old) :
The Nova Scotia native continues to impress, with 110 points in just 60 games, ranking him fourth in QMJHL scoring, tied with Zachary Bolduc. He has also recorded 20 points in 11 playoff games so far.

Mesar (19 years old) :
The Canadiens' second first round pick in 2022 had some struggles in the OHL but still recorded 17 goals and 34 assists in 52 games with the Kitchener Rangers. Nonetheless, he remains an intriguing prospect to watch next season!

Adam Engstrom (19 years old) :
The defenseman completely torched the Swedish U20 league with 13 points in just 7 games. He then made the jump to Rogle BK Angelholm in the top division, where he played a significant role, collecting 16 points in 43 games. It will be fascinating to see the progress of this young player who could cause a huge surprise in 2 or 3 years.

Jakub Dobes (21 years old) :
The 6'5", 197-pound Czech goaltender had another strong season with Ohio State University. He compiled a record of 21-16-3 with a goals-against average of 2.31 and a save percentage of 0.918. He notably signed his entry-level contract with the Canadiens on March 31st.

Emil Heineman (21 years old) :
In terms of points, the Swedish forward had a nearly identical season to last year with Leksands IF, claiming just one point less than in 2021-2022. However, Heineman, who joined the Rocket for the last few games of the year, had an incredible breakout. The forward collected 7 goals and 2 assists in 11 AHL games.

Jared Davidson (20 years old) :
The 5th-round pick in the last draft has been dominant in the WHL over the past two seasons, accumulating 171 points in 124 games. He also continues to be a top forward in the playoffs with 16 points in just 10 games.

In addition to this year's two first-round picks and all the young players who made the jump to the NHL this season, such as Juraj Slafkovsky, Kaiden Guhle, Arber Xhekaj, Justin Barron, and Jordan Harris, there is no doubt that the Canadiens have a very exciting future!
