Journalist Murat Ates, who covers the Winnipeg Jets activities for The Athletic, revealed major information about the discussions that took place between the Canadiens and the Jets last summer.

While Kent Hughes wanted to acquire Pierre-Luc Dubois, Murat Ates unveiled the identity of the player that Kevin Cheveldayoff wanted in return for the Quebecer and it's completely ridiculous.

Indeed, according to his information, the Jets' general manager wanted none other than Nick Suzuki in exchange for Pierre-Luc Dubois. For his part, Kent Hughes would have proposed a deal involving Christian Dvorak, Josh Anderson, and a first-round pick.




Kevin Cheveldayoff must bitterly regret not accepting the Canadiens' offer, as the Quebecer might very well leave the team of his own volition next summer.

Murat Ates also added that he strongly believes Pierre-Luc Dubois will be traded to the Habs before the draft.
