The former owner of the Montreal Canadiens was deceived by Gary Bettman and the NHL

The former minority owner of the Canadiens and the new owner of the Senators, Michael Andlauer, began his housecleaning this fall by announcing the dismissal of General Manager Pierre Dorion.

It should be noted that the Shane Pinto and Evgeny Dadonov trade stories played a significant role in this decision. To make a long story short, Dorion allegedly failed to inform the Vegas Golden Knights that Dadonov had a limited no-trade clause, which included a few teams he could not be traded to, including the Anaheim Ducks.

The Golden Knights attempted to make a trade with the Ducks, but the NHL voided it. Due to Ottawa's error, they lost a first-round draft pick.

What does Andlauer have to do with all of this? Simply put, the NHL failed to inform him about these issues, which would have given him additional negotiation leverage.




So, the NHL took 18 months to make a decision in the Dadonov case due to Pierre Dorion's lack of transparency, but in turn, they lacked transparency with the new team buyer to ensure a higher price... it doesn't seem very legitimate.
