Breaking: contract signing for the Canadiens' 2014 first-round pick
We've just learned some interesting news about a former Montreal Canadiens player, Nikita Scherbak.
The team's 2014 first-round pick has secured a contract with the Ducs d'Angers, in the top league in France.
As reported by Keven Mawn from GoNordiques.com, the Russian forward had originally signed with his new team last July, but issues related to his work visa delayed his arrival in French territory.
In fact, he was let go from his team in the Czech Republic last year due to his Russian nationality. He eventually finished the season with a club in Slovakia.
Although he was another first-round misfire by the Montreal organization, we're glad he can continue his professional hockey career.
