The most prominent NHL insiders are all unanimous: something major is brewing between Montreal and Edmonton. At this point, it's almost certain that it will happen, with the timing yet to be determined.
Of course, if David Savard is part of the package, the Oilers will likely need to add more. On the other hand, Jack Campbell would be a good goaltender for the Rocket, even if he is overpaid (which is why the Canadiens would receive a first-round pick).
Nothing is set in stone, but when insiders like Darren Dreger, Elliotte Friedman, and David Pagnotta are involved, they are likely in direct communication with general managers and are well-connected to the source.
This doesn't guarantee that it will unfold exactly this way or that all these players will be involved, but there are very advanced negotiations currently taking place between the two teams, and a Canadiens goaltender will inevitably be on the move.
