While NHL preseason camps are set to begin in September, KHL preseason camps started last week, and the preseason games are already underway.
It will be very interesting to follow the development of Matvei Michkov, who was selected 7th overall in the last draft.
Speaking of the Russian prodigy, there was a big surprise regarding him, as his team, SKA Saint Petersburg, played him at center for his first preseason game. Wow!
The worst part? He responded remarkably well to the challenge, finishing the game with a goal and an assist, and even adding a shootout goal in a 3-2 defeat.
Furthermore, his play greatly impressed some observers, as he exhibited a more responsible style, with notable involvement for an exhibition game.
Honestly, if Michkov's experience as a center continues, and he becomes an important asset for his team in that position, it would make the Flyers' draft pick even more of a steal.
Considering that his non-selection by the Canadiens has not been universally agreed upon, it would add a tremendous layer of disappointment in the eyes of the club's fans.
