Montreal Canadiens have just announced the recall of Mitchell Stephens from the Laval Rocket. This is very concerning news, indicating that Alex Newhook won't be back on Saturday, and his injury could be serious.
It looked serious and painful during Thursday night's game, but pain can sometimes be deceptive. In this case, it seems to be serious.
If Newhook had only needed to miss one game, Michael Pezzetta could have stepped in, but the recall of Stephens confirms that it will take longer. Kent Hughes won't recall players just for the sake of it, that's for sure.
What's also unfortunate is that every time chemistry starts to build within the Canadiens, a player gets injured. Kirby Dach and Juraj Slafkovsky were developing well, then Dach got injured.
Michael Matheson and David Savard were doing fine, then Savard got injured. Nick Suzuki and Alex Newhook were starting to work well together, then Newhook gets injured.
