As noted by insider Darren Dreger on TSN, two players are on the market with the Ottawa Senators, namely Mathieu Joseph and Erik Brannstrom. The General Manager is desperately seeking a solution to clear salary space in order to sign the restricted free agent Shane Pinto.
On the Columbus Blue Jackets' side, the excellent Adam Boqvist is also reportedly being shopped by the team. They are looking to make room on the right flank for the promising young player, David Jiricek, who was the organization's 6th overall pick in 2022.
The same story goes for Connor Garland in Vancouver, who no longer has a place with the Canucks. They are urgently trying to create cap space, to the extent that the player has even been given permission by the team's management to shop his services in order to facilitate a trade.
Finally, in the Canadiens' camp, Christian Dvorak's fate seems to have reached a crossroads. He is not part of the long-term plans, and with the current state of the team's lineup, he doesn't seem to be part of the short-term plans either.
His injury may have slowed down negotiations and cooled the interest of other teams, but it would be surprising to see him still in Montreal after the trade deadline. The excellent journalist Arpon Basu even mentioned that the Buffalo Sabres should be watched for Dvorak.
So, there are some interesting fish in the trade market, and it will be captivating to follow these stories throughout the season.
