A big physical defenceman still in Habs organization for 2024-2025 season
After a lot of departures of players from Laval to Europe a few days ago, the Montreal Canadiens organization has extended the experience of the large defenseman from the Trois-Rivières Lions, Kirby Proctor.
Even though the Trois-Rivières organization has faced its share of difficulties, several players can hope to be called up to Laval next week. This will be the case for Kirby Proctor.
The Canadiens' ECHL affiliate announces the return of Kirby Proctor
One thing is certain: Proctor has the physique for the job. We're talking about a big defenseman standing 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighing 210 pounds.
"Kirby Proctor will be back with the Lions for a second season!
He will surely strengthen the team's defense for the 2024-2025 season!
Welcome back, Kirby!" - Trois-Rivières Lions
He has made his mark as a robust defenseman. Let's not hide it, he is quite far down in the Montreal Canadiens' pipeline. However, some defensemen develop later. He could climb the ranks up to Laval in 2024-2025, as others have done before him.
We shouldn't write off Kirby Proctor, who is 23 years old. Big defensemen take more time to develop. Just ask Zdeno Chara! Proctor is a large left-handed defenseman who played nine games with the Lions in 2024 (including six in the playoffs), joining the organization immediately after finishing his university career.
He played for the University of Nebraska-Omaha, an excellent program in the NCAA. He accumulated 15 points in 40 games in his last season there, while maintaining a positive differential of +8.
More details will follow.
