Currently, the Canadiens have two goalies in Samuel Montembeault and Cayden Primeau, while the Rocket de Laval has three: Jakub Dobes as the likely starter, Connor Hughes as the backup, and now Hunter Jones has joined the mix. To add to this, Luke Cavallin is also coming in.
Luke Cavallin, who played for the Toronto Marlies last year, is the latest addition. While having depth is beneficial, this seems excessive, especially considering the goaltender situation last season, which saw significant turnover.
Questions are arising:
Is another trade imminent? Is there an undisclosed injury to one of the goalies? Recall that Kent Hughes was actively pursuing Yaroslav Askarov's services. Are Samuel Montembeault or Cayden Primeau injured? Is the organization planning to trade one of them?
We should find out soon, but for now, there is clearly an overabundance of goaltenders in the organization.
