Alexandre Texier and his arrival are intriguing and raise several questions about his true impact on a rather unstable group.
We're talking about a player who
arrives with a heavy past and a career that has never really had a long stretch of stability. In other words,
he hasn't had it easy.Since yesterday, many fans have been wondering if this new addition can really help right away.
That's where Anthony Martineau's analysis becomes important.
Texier, a talent marked by tragedies and major obstacles
It starts with something few people know. He reminded us that Texier was about to break out when everything went off the rails:
"2020-2021, he had a very good start to the season, and he broke his hand. After that, he had to deal with deaths in his family, two successive deaths."
- Martineau
These events completely changed the player's trajectory, and understandably so.
He then had to leave Columbus to go play in Switzerland.
"He went back to play in Switzerland to rediscover his passion and be closer to his loved ones. When he returned to the Jackets, he had a lot of difficulty re-establishing his place.
Early in his career, there was a lot of hype around him. He was a fast, agile guy, and he dominated in the SM-Liiga with 40 points in a very defensive league." Martineau added.
However, despite the opportunities in Columbus, things never really worked afterward. Today, he arrives in Montreal with one simple mission: add depth.
"Alexandre Texier is a guy who's going to bring you depth. It's a one-year, one-million-dollar contract; it's not a big gamble." - Anthony Martineau
I really get the sense that Texier finally wants to find a real rhythm. Hopefully Montreal is the right place for him to get back on track and prove his worth.
