The game between the Montreal Canadiens and the New Jersey Devils was supposed to be an exciting clash between two strong Eastern Conference teams at the top of their game.
However, even before the puck dropped, something else caught people's attention.
And it wasn't on the ice...
It happened in the stands - and it got a lot of people talking.
Anthony Martineau comments on the fans in the stands during the game between the Montreal Canadiens and the New Jersey Devils
Journalist Anthony Martineau shared a photo of the arena on social media. You can see many empty rows at the Prudential Center.
He wrote:

That's wild!
There were just as many people at the Canadiens' preseason practices in Quebec...
Let's not forget that probably at least 30% of the few people there were Habs fans.
It's really surprising, especially for an important game like this one.
The expected atmosphere simply wasn't there, and it got people talking.
I think that even though the Devils are doing well, the connection with their crowd just isn't comparable to Montreal's.
In Montreal, a game like this would fill the Bell Centre - even in a tough season.
Elsewhere, the passion just isn't always the same...
I think it really shows how much the location completely changes the energy around the game.
