Canadiens GM Kent Hughes Eyes Major Trade to Add Missing Center
The columnist and host JiC Lajoie won't budge: Canadiens fans should expect major moves from Kent Hughes, and that, no later than this week.
There have been many trade rumors this week, especially with September 1st approaching, the day when the Canadiens will pay Carey Price's final bonus and when he will become very inexpensive in real dollars for a team interested in making a trade with the Canadiens.
As we know, Kent Hughes would very much like to part with the contract of the Canadiens' former star goaltender. Everything has been said on that subject this week.
But on his X account (formerly Twitter), the colorful JiC posted a message that goes even further, saying he is convinced that Kent Hughes is about to acquire the long-missing second center for the Tricolore.
JiC is categorical: we can expect a big trade from Kent Hughes as early as this week
"Canadiens fans stay alert. The costly September 1st will see Carey Price's contract move elsewhere. Kent Hughes would be inclined to give up picks, notably first-round, in order to add a natural center to his roster.

Moreover, JiC is not the only one weighing in on the subject today. Journalist Nicolas Cloutier also indicated on his X account that the San Jose Sharks are to be watched regarding Carey Price's contract, as they are very close to the salary floor.
"There are very good reasons to think that a team like the Sharks will agree to take on Price's contract, in exchange for an 'asset.' Only one year left on the contract, a rebuilding club near the floor. For the Canadiens, the beginning of a new era with the end of the long-term injured reserve list."
