On Wednesday at the Bell Centre, Kirby Dach was once again spotted wearing a walking boot.

And yes, it's worrying for everyone, because a real update has been expected for some time now. The Canadiens remain cautious about his return, and there are no shortcuts.
The club announced in November an absence of four to six weeks due to a fractured foot. The injury occurred during a 3-2 loss to the Boston Bruins at the Bell Centre.
Since then, he was seen skating in Brossard, and then it became radio silence again around his situation. The image of the walking boot, however, does not help suggest an imminent return to play.

Kirby Dach and the Canadiens' patience

Kent Hughes revealed at his mid-season press conference yesterday that the club was taking precautions with Dach and did not want to rush his return. The reason is now clear.
"Spotted at the Bell Centre, Kirby Dach is still moving around with a therapeutic boot on his right foot.

This suggests that his return to play is certainly not imminent.

That said, the Canadiens should provide an update soon."

Before getting injured, Dach played 15 games this season and collected 7 points, including 5 goals. In his NHL career, he has played 284 games, totaling 128 points. He has 48 goals and 80 assists in his career, numbers that highlight his talent when healthy. He is only 24 years old, but he has already had too many seasons cut short.
Last season, he still played 57 games and recorded 22 points, but his season ended too early. In 2023-24, he was limited to just 2 games, with 2 assists, and that says a lot.
This year, he had only 15 games to build his rhythm, and every absence leaves a hole in his schedule. Everyone just hopes to see him return to play at 100 percent, without having to rush his recovery.
Finally, the return of the young forward is awaited, but concerns are growing due to his injury history.
