On Saturday, a young KHL player sparked discussion about Alexander Zharovsky.

Alexander Zharovsky is a Canadiens prospect forward who is impressing in the KHL.
At 18 years old, the 6-foot-1, 163-pound forward belongs to the Montreal Canadiens. He was selected 34th overall in 2025 at the most recent NHL Draft.
This season in the KHL, Zharovsky has recorded 29 points in 33 games, including 11 goals, with Salavat Yulaev Ufa.

Alexander Zharovsky Is Becoming a Serious Topic Among Fans

Is Alexander really as good as everyone says he is?

In a video, Fyodorov explains that Zharovsky often slows down just before entering the offensive zone. According to him, this forces defensemen to hesitate and gives the puck carrier an extra half-second.

"Yes, he is. Honestly, I don't even know who else among professional hockey players I can compare him to. He's one of a kind. I've never seen such a flexible and agile player, who, by slowing down his own speed, slows down the entire game. When he has the puck in the offensive zone, everyone around him seems to stop and freeze, and Zharovsky simply beats them and scores. It's as if Sasha simply hypnotizes his opponents."

The result, he says, is a pass or a shot that arrives perfectly when everyone is waiting.
At the 2025 draft, Montreal sent the 41st and 49th picks to the Hurricanes to acquire the 34th selection. It was even reported that the Nashville Predators were preparing to select him with the 35th pick.
The Canadiens liked his profile so much that they viewed him as a first-round talent, even though he was drafted in the second round. He was also ranked fifth among international prospects at the time of the draft.
On September 27, 2025, he scored the first goal of his KHL career.
In Russia, his team even uses him at center, even though he was drafted as a winger. That detail explains why he is already at the center of many discussions among Canadiens fans.
When another young player of the same caliber says he has never seen anything like it, it carries weight. For Canadiens fans, that's the kind of quote that sets social media on fire.
Zharovsky has not yet played in the NHL, but he is already a name to watch.
