After the summer we've had, fans are optimistic about seeing the Canadiens perform this year, with several young players expected to be in the lineup.

The return of Kirby Dach will certainly make a difference, along with the likely arrival of Lane Hutson and Logan Mailloux. Even though Ivan Demidov won't be around, there's plenty to be excited about.

However, according to the accurate predictions of Caesars, Draftkings, and MGM, which are usually close to the mark year after year, the Canadiens are projected to finish once again in 28th place in the NHL.

It seems they may not consider the potential impact of Lane Hutson and Logan Mailloux, or that Kirby Dach's return might not have the hoped-for effect.

Rebuilding takes time, and while the Canadiens aren't expected to make the playoffs this year, competing and progressing is essential.

It would be a failure if the team were to finish 28th overall in the NHL again, and a major letdown for fans who have shown unprecedented patience with the club.
