Immediate reinforcement in the Canadiens organization: three candidates added
Kent Hughes has a lot on his plate to improve the Canadiens, and his colleague John Sedgwick has similar tasks to enhance the Laval Rocket.
Both need to make acquisitions to bolster their respective teams, but they also need to complete their coaching staff.
Indeed, with JF Houle's departure, the head coach position in Laval remains vacant, while Alex Burrows' role in Montreal is yet to be filled.
As for the Canadiens, there's been radio silence. It would be logical for Guy Boucher to at least be considered for the power play specialist role, but no information has surfaced so far.
Regarding Laval, Stéphane Leroux has provided an update, and it seems likely that one of the following three candidates will fill the position.
«Speaking of the head coach position with the #Rocket #AHL
I've heard from good sources that meetings will take place in Vegas and early next week in Montreal
Among the candidates they want to meet - nothing surprising:
Sylvain Favreau
Carl Mallette
Stéphane Julien»
Stéphane Leroux
These are three names that were already in the rumors, but it's now confirmed. The Canadiens organization will interview them, and these will be very serious discussions.
One thing I find odd is that Daniel Jacob was hired as an assistant coach before the head coach was announced. This is a peculiar situation, as the future head coach won't have the option to choose his own staff.
