The journalist Renaud Lavoie revealed the Canadiens' defensive combinations this morning in Quebec city, and a major surprise slipped into the lineup.

According to the published duos, we have:
Mike Matheson- Noah Dobson,
Kaiden Guhle- Lane Hutson,
Arber Xhekaj-Alex Carrier,
Struble-Adam Engstrom
In my opinion, what's surprising is that Jayden Struble seems to be left out, despite an impressive camp where he had gained confidence and shown some high-level hockey, in my view.
And honestly, I think this kind of surprise sends a clear message: nothing is guaranteed at the Canadiens' camp.

Matheson and Dobson together, an intriguing pair for the Canadiens

Another notable element: the pair formed by Noah Dobson and Mike Matheson. The two haven't often played together, but their complementarity could be a real asset to stabilize Montreal's defense.
This is the kind of pair that opposing teams fear. Two solid veterans who make very few mistakes.
In my eyes, this combination really deserves to be tested.
I believe seeing Struble left out after his excellent camp is likely to provoke a reaction from many fans.
On a happy note, Ivan Demidov was back on the ice today, skating and looking healthy! Let's hope he's 100% and ready for his first full season.
