Saturday, the Bell Centre was treated to a perfect night against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The Montreal Canadiens shut out Pittsburgh 4-0, and Jacob Fowler stopped everything. The 21-year-old goaltender turned away 31 shots for his first NHL shutout, and the Bell Centre rose in a roaring ovation after the final horn.
Montreal managed just 20 shots, yet Stuart Skinner surrendered three goals, while Pittsburgh put 31 on Fowler without a result.
It was already Fowler's fourth game, but no one saw any nerves. In a market like Montreal, a night like this can quickly change the tone of a season. We are talking about a goaltender drafted 69th overall in 2023, and he already looks like a regular.
Juraj Slafkovsky opened the scoring on the power play, his 10th of the season.
Owen Beck followed with his first NHL goal, at 18:49 in the first period. Josh Anderson added a shorthanded goal, then another into an empty net. His two goals were his 7th and 8th this season.

What remained after the final horn was mostly the atmosphere around the young goaltender. The "victory video" showed a loud locker room, with smiles everywhere. Martin St-Louis addressed the group, and Fowler received an ovation that said it all.
An ovation like that is worth almost a second star.
Meanwhile, Beck not only scored, he also played 13:18. Brendan Gallagher collected an assist on that goal, his 10th of the season.
Lane Hutson added another assist, and he now reaches 100 points in 119 games. On the Penguins side, Sidney Crosby remained at 1,721 points, one shy of Mario Lemieux's record.
With this win, the Canadiens displayed a record of 19-12-4, while Pittsburgh fell to 14-11-9. In a roller-coaster season, a 4-0 like this feels good.
When your goaltender gives you that, you can breathe for real.
