As the Gaudreau family mourns the untimely passing of Johnny and Matthew, NHL players have stepped up to support their families.
The devastating news came Thursday night, as the two brothers were struck by a drunk driver while cycling. They were hit from behind and had no chance to react.
The situation is incredibly tragic, especially since Matthew Gaudreau's partner is pregnant and expecting to give birth to their son, Tripp. A fundraising campaign has been launched to support her.
Many NHL players have decided to contribute, and Cayden Primeau also participated by donating $1,000.
"And beyond the messages, some players wanted to offer concrete help to the loved ones of the two brothers. A crowdfunding campaign was launched to support Matthew's family, as his partner, Madeline, is due to give birth in a few months.
And among those who donated was Cayden Primeau: the Canadiens' goaltender donated $1,000 to Matthew's family."

This generous gesture did not go unnoticed. While hockey players earn good salaries, they are under no obligation to donate. In this case, it's particularly touching, as the donation is for the family of Johnny Gaudreau's brother.
Hopefully, this support will provide some relief to Matthew's partner before the birth of her son, even though it can never bring back the father of her child.
