Significant change: Kent Hughes receives bad news
Several scenarios were possible for the Canadiens, who hold the Winnipeg Jets' first-round pick.
Unfortunately, the worst-case scenario is unfolding, as the division winners are all winning their respective rounds.
Indeed, the victories of the Stars and Panthers are pushing back the Jets' first-round pick, which will ultimately be the 26th or 27th.
"Well, because with the victories of the Panthers and the Stars (both division champions), the Winnipeg Jets' first-round pick held by the Canadiens will not be as high as it could have been."
If the Oilers lose the next game against Vancouver, it will officially be the 27th pick for the Jets' choice held by the Canadiens.
"The elimination of the Bruins and the Avalanche last night is not good news for the Canadiens' second first-round pick.
Here are the scenarios for the Jets' pick:
Oilers in the third round: 26th pick
Canucks in the third round: 27th pick."
- Charles-Alexis Brisebois
Based on Kent Hughes' tendencies, the chances of him trading this pick are very high. He may have to pay a bit more with the pick dropping in rank to acquire the player he wants.
Remember that several young players could be available, such as Marco Rossi, Trevor Zegras, Martin Necas, Cole Perfetti, and many others.
