Kent Hughes has one goal in mind this summer: improving the Canadiens' offense, particularly their top six.

This is a task he must accomplish, especially after drafting a defenseman (Reinbacher) with the 5th overall pick in 2023.
He is ready to do whatever it takes, even if it means parting with a young defenseman favored by the organization.
To complete a trade similar to those for Kirby Dach or Alex Newhook, an ideal partner is needed, and the Devils are a great option.
There is a young forward there who has been slow to reach his potential and might benefit from a fresh start.
Alexander Holtz, the 7th overall pick in 2020, is looking to break out. His 28 points in 82 games this season are not sufficient, and given the offensive talent in New Jersey, trading him for a defenseman makes sense.
The two general managers completed a trade a few months ago for Jake Allen, so they certainly have a good relationship.
Stay tuned, but keep Holtz's name in mind. He could well be the Canadiens' new Kirby Dach or Alex Newhook.
