Plot twist in the Corey Perry situation: the forward could potentially sign earlier than expected and play alongside Connor McDavid
The Corey Perry saga continues to generate discussion. While his off-ice issues are known, his passion for hockey remains evident, keeping him as skilled and dedicated on the ice even at 38.
Despite a brilliant career, the recent stain on his record might unfortunately come to define him in the future. But the story is not over yet.
Only time will tell if he gets a chance at redemption and signs with another team, but in the meantime, Jim Matheson, an Edmonton journalist, believes it might happen sooner rather than later.
"We can assume that Ken Holland will inquire about the forward. If Holland took the risk of signing a contract with
Evander Kane, who had a lot of off-ice problems, he probably wouldn't be opposed to talking to Pat Morris, Perry's agent. The acquisition of Kane was a home run for Holland."

In terms of a hockey player, Perry is undoubtedly an asset to any team. However, he needs to address his issues first. If he is ready before March 8, the deadline to sign and be eligible for the playoffs, it's entirely possible that he may reach an agreement with a team.
"Holland will have to wait for Perry's situation to be resolved, and he will certainly need to thoroughly investigate what Perry did for his contract to be terminated in Chicago. But if he doesn't think it's a serious obstacle, Holland will go all-in for Perry."
- Jim Matheson
