Detroit Red Wings forward Vladimir Tarasenko has just won the Stanley Cup with the Panthers, but his victory will be bittersweet.

Indeed, while he will be able to take the Cup with him for a full day this summer, Tarasenko will be missing an important presence by his side.
His father, Andrei Tarasenko, has passed away at just 56 years old.

Tragic announcement for Vladimir Tarasenko

Mr. Tarasenko was very involved and appreciated in the hockey world, acting as a mentor. He had a long professional career of 22 years as a player and was also a head coach.
He notably had seasons of 57 points in 44 games and 54 points in 50 games, respectively in 1994 and 1995.
It can be said that the apple didn't fall far from the tree, as his son now has his second Stanley Cup ring.
Unfortunately, the celebrations will take place without his father. It is a terrible tragedy.
Our deepest condolences to Vladimir Tarasenko and his family during this difficult time.
