Jeff Petry trade: a top contender surfaces to land his services

Kent Hughes is currently very active in the trade market, trying to find a new team for the defenseman newly acquired by the organization, Jeff Petry.

In connection with a potential destination for the 35-year-old defenseman, NHL insider Chris Johnston has just revealed that a team to watch in this matter is the Dallas Stars.

As Johnston mentions, the Stars have been one of the teams most interested in Petry even before he was traded to Pittsburgh. The interest in him is not a recent development for this organization, even when he counted for a $6.25 million cap hit.

Furthermore, his wife Julie is from that area, which makes the destination even more appealing for the family, especially considering that Jeff has a no-trade list for 15 teams in the league.

For a team aiming to go far in the playoffs, there is a lack of impact within the top 4, and Jeff Petry could take the place left vacant following the loss of John Klingberg.
