On July 1st, Alex Belzile decided to leave the Montreal Canadiens organization in order to try to establish himself full-time in the NHL with the New York Rangers. The forward signed a two-season deal, thinking he could carve out a spot in Peter Laviolette's lineup.
However, in the last few minutes, the Rangers finally announced that the 32-year-old veteran, who had still amassed 14 points in 31 games last season, has been placed on waivers.

He will therefore have to continue to perform in the AHL this season if he hopes to get an opportunity to play with the main team and potentially secure a spot in the Rangers' lineup.
