Cayden Primeau has been in the stands since the start of the season. He's not even the backup; he's essentially the third-string goalie. He's not even traveling to Buffalo and is staying in Montreal to work with Éric Raymond.
It's safe to say that it doesn't look good for him in terms of getting ice time. However, according to Renaud Lavoie, it might be the opposite.
"There's a logic to all of this, and the logic is that they've decided to give him a start. We'll have confirmation tomorrow. It's more logical than telling Samuel Montembeault to be in Buffalo tonight, get little sleep, and play tomorrow (when you have three goalies)."
- Renaud Lavoie
I'm not sure where he got this information, but it would be quite a turnaround for the young goaltender.
We'll have more details tomorrow. For now, Primeau hasn't practiced with the team and isn't traveling with them. It's a rather complex situation.
