As if it weren't enough, in addition to facing mental health and alcoholism issues, Corey Perry has just learned that he will have to repay a significant sum of money to the Chicago Blackhawks.
He doesn't need this right now, but the team is certainly not going to cut him any slack. We're talking about a sum of 1 million dollars.
As Perry played about a quarter of the season and was earning 4 million, the Blackhawks paid him half of that amount with a signing bonus. Therefore, he is required to repay the overpayment.
"The 38-year-old veteran was entitled to receive one of the 4 million dollars from the one-year contract he signed last July. This is because he played about 25% of the season. The problem is that Perry received 2 million dollars, thanks in part to a signing bonus."

Perry will turn to the NHL Players' Association for help in this situation, but if they can't do anything, he will have to repay the money.
