You may recall that this summer, Flyers goaltender and newly accused Carter Hart was involved in numerous trade rumors. Daniel Brière was actively trying to trade him.

Given that his idol was Carey Price and the Canadiens were still in search of a future number one goaltender, Hart was linked to the Canadiens, and Brière discussed this possibility with Kent Hughes. The Canadiens' GM declined.
We now understand why, even though suspicions had been lingering for some time.
"I remember reading this and finding it so bizarre that the Canadiens weren't interested in Hart; Guess we know what that unknown reason is now and why it was a non-starter" - HabsLinks

The fact is that all NHL teams refused to deal with Brière regarding Hart. Executives are all aware now, and the Flyers' GM wasn't going to get away with it.
Moreover, he lost credibility by trying to trade a problem to other teams, all the while knowing what would happen.
"There was lots of talk of the Flyers looking to trade Carter Hart this past summer knowing this was eventually coming down." - Andy Strickland

Even though he hasn't been found guilty yet, it would be surprising if the NHL allows the four players involved in the scandal of the 2018 Team Canada junior team to play before the trial concludes. According to Rick Westhead, the trial is expected to begin in 2026.
This means that Hart, along with Dube, McLeod, and Foote, should not be back for at least two more seasons.
