The Canadiens are heading to Washington today, but before that, they held a practice session for tomorrow's game. It's nice to see all the players back on the ice after a break of over a week.
However, there was an unpleasant surprise for Arber Xhekaj and his fans as the defenseman was used as the 7th defenseman. It's disappointing, especially considering he was recently called up from Laval and has only played two games.
The coach worked on the second wave of the power play, which still leaves a glimmer of hope. But for Tuesday's game, it seems he will have to wait his turn.
It's hard to understand. If the Canadiens called him up, there are two possible reasons. Either it was to play him or to showcase him to other teams. In either case, he should be playing.
According to Anthony Martineau, who was present at the practice, it's possible that Xhekaj may still be in uniform, as Martin St-Louis might go with 11 forwards and seven defensemen.
The journalist notes, however, to not take it too seriously, but Michael Pezzetta could be the one sitting out.
