Some fans were rather surprised to learn that the Montreal Canadiens had sent Arber Xhekaj to the Laval Rocket on Monday night. However, it was just a "paper transaction" to allow the organization to comply with the NHL's 23-player limit and the salary cap.
Moreover, in the last few minutes, Marco D'Amico confirmed that the 22-year-old defenseman is officially back in the Canadiens' lineup. He also added that Joel Armia no longer appears on the team's list and is expected to join the AHL affiliate soon.
Although it was just a formality, it's great news to see that "Wifi" (a nickname) is truly back with the Montreal squad. Even though Martin St-Louis hasn't yet announced his lineup for the matchup against the Toronto Maple Leafs, all signs point to Arber Xhekaj being in the lineup, having practiced alongside Jordan Harris on the third defensive pair in recent days.
