After a rather surprising training camp where a strong chemistry was forming with Kirby Dach, Juraj Slafkovsky has been in a bit of a slump since the injury to number 77. In Toronto, during the first game of the season, this trio was clearly the best on the ice at five-on-five.
Unfortunately, Dach's injury has had a negative impact on the team and on Juraj, who hasn't been the same since. He has made some nice plays but often tries to feed a struggling teammate, Josh Anderson, who is also having trouble finding the back of the net.
This has resulted in a lack of confidence, and Slaf doesn't shoot on goal as often, desperately seeking to connect with a teammate and making one pass too many most of the time. But there is room for development.
It's a credit to him that, despite his own injury, he has decided to stay involved rather than distance himself from the team or return home during his recovery.
