Major Revelation From Crosby And Letang That Changes Everything About The Possible Addition Of Erik Karlsson

The Pittsburgh Penguins are currently on the lookout for a game-changing trade that could once again establish them as serious Stanley Cup contenders.

With an aging team that still boasts exceptional potential with Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, and Kristopher Letang, their new president Kyle Dubas wishes to bolster the team in hopes of securing another championship with this core group.

The Penguins' general manager is now reportedly leading the race to acquire Erik Karlsson, the latest recipient of the Norris Trophy. The San Jose Sharks are actively in discussions to trade the 32-year-old veteran defenseman, as Karlsson has expressed his wish to be traded before the upcoming season.

Knowing that they could add the Swedish player, who scored 25 goals and earned 101 points last season, the Penguins' key players, specifically Crosby and Letang, have given Dubas their seal of approval for this trade.

Quebecer defenseman Letang has even stated that he's ready to reconsider his role in order to accommodate Karlsson in the lineup. He has even offered to relinquish his place on the first power-play unit to "make things work". Wow!

Rumors have started to circulate regarding the price that Pittsburgh would be willing to pay for Karlsson, and it's pretty steep.

Everything seems to hinge on salary retention; Karlsson currently commands a $11.5 million salary for another four seasons. The Pens don't have room for such a contract, meaning they'd have to convince the Sharks to retain at least $3 million of Karlsson's annual salary.

However, one certainty appears to be that the Swedish defenseman will be changing teams before the next season.
