During his appearance on NHL Network, the excellent Elliotte Friedman mentioned that the New York Islanders are still looking for a goal scorer to improve their offense for the upcoming season.

Indeed, Lou Lamoriello is determined to address this gap in his team. However, the general manager was unable to make a deal with the Ottawa Senators to acquire Alex Debrincat, and the chances of Vladimir Tarasenko signing a contract with the Islanders are slim.

"I heard that Tarasenko and the Islanders wouldn't be a good fit and that it won't happen. However, I still believe they are searching for another goal scorer, yes, absolutely." - Elliotte Friedman

Apart from Patrick Kane, who is expected to sign once he recovers from his injury, options are scarce in the free-agent market. It seems increasingly likely that Lamoriello will have to make a trade if he wants to add a goal-scoring forward to the team.

As reported by Marc-Olivier Cook from DansLesCoulisses, Mike Hoffman is available for free in Montreal. It must be admitted that the Canadiens' forward's greatest quality is undoubtedly his formidable shot.

If the Islanders fail to acquire a top forward, could they turn to Mike Hoffman? After all, the veteran is currently in the last year of his contract, and it wouldn't be surprising if Kent Hughes agrees to retain a significant portion of his salary to facilitate a trade.

A healthy Mike Hoffman, placed in the right conditions, could still reach the 20-goal mark and bring a boost to the Islanders' power play. Let's not forget that the Ontario-born forward has surpassed 25 goals five times in his career.

In your opinion, will the Canadiens' general manager succeed in trading Mike Hoffman before the start of the next season?

One thing is certain; such a trade would greatly please Montreal fans!
