The name Jared Davidson is coming up more and more often in discussions surrounding the Montreal Canadiens.

Recently we mentioned how Davidson's name has been making a strong case for a call-up. And according to analyst Marco D'Amico, it might be time for the young forward to finally get his chance with the big club.
In the latest episode of the Starr & D'Amico Show, D'Amico didn't mince his words.
He explained why Davidson deserves a spot in the Canadiens' lineup, especially after some quieter games from players like Joe Veleno.

Marco D'Amico believes Jared Davidson could help the Canadiens right away

"I think when you have a guy like Davidson, you know, he's older, 23 years old, you have to see what you have in him, and he was drafted as an overager, and had to prove himself, prove himself, prove himself. Like, let's remember, his first season in Laval was on an AHL deal, and give him an entry-level contract off the bat, he had to earn it, and he earned it well, and then followed it up with a 45-point season last year, playing third-line minutes, and now is, you know, playing at a point-per-game clip, basically, with seven goals in 10 games or 12 games.

I remember having the conversation with someone in the Canadiens organization as early as training camp, where, you know, we kind of both looked at each other and said, yeah, this guy's going to play NHL games this year."

According to D'Amico, that kind of profile could be very useful on a third or fourth line, especially in tougher, more physical games like the one against the Ottawa Senators.
"Jared Davidson, in terms of what he brings to a game, there's a lot to like, right? He has the physical implication, the shooting mechanics are there. Like, his shot, his one-timer, we saw the one-timer this weekend, is just NHL-level in my opinion. He could play, just in terms of the shooting mechanics, he could be a threat on a bottom six, in my opinion.

That is extremely valuable, especially when you watch a game like the Saturday Night Game with Montreal against Ottawa. It's a very trippy game, and I, like Jared Davidson, in my opinion, probably would have had more of an impact than, say, a Joe Veleno, who I thought didn't have a very good game."

I think the message is clear!
Davidson has the tools to help the Canadiens, whether through his intensity or his dangerous shot.
When you know that Martin St-Louis likes players who work hard and battle for every inch of ice, it's hard not to think that the young winger could quickly earn the coaching staff's trust.
In my opinion, he deserves at least a chance. He brings a solid dose of energy, passion, and offensive skill - exactly the kind of profile the Canadiens want to promote.
