The young Montreal Canadiens forward, Juraj Slafkovsky, is off to a phenomenal start to the 2025-26 season, with six goals already in twelve games.
When you look at the numbers, his progress is striking.
According to journalist Stu Cowan, it took Juraj Slafkovsky 43 games last season to reach the six-goal mark.
Despite that, he finished the season with 18 goals - 12 of which came in his final 36 games.
This year, things are different for the Slovak forward. After only 12 games, he's already scored 6.
He's often criticized - probably because he was the first overall pick - but we have to remember that he's only 21 years old.
We're seeing more and more confidence in his game; he's playing with speed, and the chemistry on the Canadiens' top line is undeniable.
Juraj Slafkovsky changes the offensive dynamic of the Montreal Canadiens
Over time, we're starting to understand why Kent and Jeff chose him with their very first pick for the organization.
If we project his current stats over a full 82-game season, he's on pace for 41 goals and 55 points.
We all know second-half Slaf, so if he ramps up in the latter half of the season, he might even surpass the 60-point mark this year.
That would be a major transformation.
Many would like to see Demidov on the top line instead of Slafkovsky, but personally, I think his style complements Suzuki and Caufield perfectly.
Plus, it helps balance the lines and finally gives the Canadiens a second line capable of scoring key goals - like we saw in the last game.
In my opinion, he's far from done surprising us this season.
