The young Juraj Slafkovsky is only 21 years old, but he already seems ready to take on a major role with the Montreal Canadiens, starting this season.
In the last preseason game against the Flyers, the Slovak forward showed not only his talent, but above all his strength of character.
And that's what caught the attention of Georges Laraque, who did not hesitate to make a very strong statement about him.
Juraj Slafkovsky shows his determination and impresses Canadiens veterans
"Like he played yesterday, he got injured and when you have stitches in a preseason game, you're not required to come back. But he came back anyway, and he had an impact in the game." - Laraque
For the former enforcer of the Habs, this gesture is no small thing.
"Watch closely, this year he's going to have one hell of a season." - Laraque
These words confirm that Slafkovsky is earning the respect not only of his teammates and coaches, but also of former players who know very well the pressure in Montreal.
I think this is exactly what the fans wanted to see: a young player who isn't afraid to take hits and who shows up when it matters.
After a difficult rookie season, he's had two "not bad" seasons with 50 points, but expectations are clearly higher for him.
I'm really looking forward to seeing if Slaf will keep this fire all season long.
