Stuck in Tampa Bay, young Conor Geekie has caught Simon "Snake" Boisvert's eye, who says the Canadiens should grab him before he breaks out somewhere else.

Another potential target for Kent Hughes? Yes, indeed!
The idea once again comes from "Snake," and it's sure to get Montreal Canadiens fans talking.
In his latest appearance on the Mathias et le Serpent podcast, the analyst suggested a rather unconventional target.
He's talking about Conor Geekie, a young Tampa Bay Lightning player that Boisvert would love to see wearing the Habs' colors.
I have to admit, it's one of the first times I've heard this name connected to the Canadiens.
According to him, the 6-foot-4 center checks every box for a player being underused on a team overloaded with veterans.
Geekie, let's not forget, was drafted 11th overall in 2022 by the Coyotes before being traded to Tampa in the deal that sent Mikhail Sergachev to Utah.
Since then, he's struggled to secure a regular spot in the Lightning lineup.

Conor Geekie, a perfect fit for the Montreal Canadiens

Boisvert believes his profile is exactly what the Canadiens are looking for.
"My answer is Conor Geekie. The guy has offensive talent, but in Tampa, he's stuck. It's not because he's playing badly-it's just that they give him eight or nine minutes, and then send him down to the AHL."

- Simon "Snake" Boisvert
According to Boisvert, in Montreal, he'd have the ice time, opportunity, and confidence to truly thrive.
Boisvert also believes the asking price wouldn't be that high. Perhaps a 2nd-round pick and a prospect, maybe an Owen Beck-type player.
"The Canadiens need to keep betting on young players who are still hungry but already have a solid foundation." - DLC

As the DansLesCoulisses article nicely sums up, everything will depend on which direction the Lightning decide to take in the coming months.
But if Tampa ever decides to listen to offers, I think Kent Hughes would be wise to be the first to call.
