Tonight, the Montreal Canadiens face off against the Philadelphia Flyers - a struggling team, but more importantly, the most penalized team in the NHL.
And let's just say that detail couldn't come at a better time for a Canadiens squad whose power play has been on fire ever since
Ivan Demidov was added to the top unit.
Since October 23, the Habs have been putting up numbers worthy of a top-tier power play team:
- 5 PP goals in 4 games
- 55.6% PP% (1st in NHL)
- 3-1-0 record
- 9 PP opportunities is the lowest in the NHL since the referee game in Edmonton

Ivan Demidov Completely Transforms the Montreal Canadiens' Power Play
"It was an awful game. I feel bad for the fans. [...] It wasn't an enjoyable game to watch. We didn't accomplish much," the head coach lamented during his press conference. "We have to keep working hard, and we'll find the players who are ready to do it. And it's my job to help them get there."

The more the Flyers play on the edge, the more likely they are to end up in the penalty box... and that's exactly what the Canadiens want.
If Demidov and the top unit manage to strike again tonight, we can start saying without hesitation that the Canadiens have one of the best power plays in the entire league.
