At the time of reading these lines, all we know about David Savard's injury is that it's an upper-body injury, and he will be out for an undetermined period.

The fact that the Canadiens provided news so quickly hinted at the worst, and the worst has been confirmed. According to Martin Leclerc, Savard has a hand fracture.

"According to reliable sources, David Savard has suffered a non-surgical hand fracture and will be out of the game for approximately 6 weeks."

So, David joins Brendan Gallagher in the group of players who have suffered a fracture from blocking a shot. The only difference is that Savard blocks them in front of his own net, not in front of the opposing net.
