In recent days, many conflicting pieces of information have been released regarding defenseman Logan Mailloux. Indeed, while Renaud Lavoie confirmed that the Montreal Canadiens' prospect had finally received permission from Gary Bettman to play in the NHL this season, Jonathan Bernier, a journalist from Le Journal de Montréal, denied the rumor, stating that the 20-year-old still did not have the green light.
Given that the Montreal organization has not yet issued an official statement on this matter, it's hard to know who's telling the truth and if a final verdict has indeed been reached. However, new information has just surfaced from a very reliable source, namely the player development coach, Francis Bouillon.
While attending the Montreal Canadiens' foundation golf tournament, the former Tricolore defenseman made a major statement on the situation, finally shedding some light on the subject. Francis Bouillon mentioned that Logan Mailloux had indeed met with NHL executives, but he received no confirmation that he was eligible to play for the CH this season.
Of course, if a decision of such magnitude had been made, there is no doubt that Francis Bouillon would have been aware of the outcome. We can now put an end to the speculations and understand that the Canadiens' prospect still has not received permission from Gary Bettman to make his debut in the NHL.
