Plot twist in front of the Canadiens' net
Jake Allen was the first star in the Canadiens' last two games and clearly deserves to return to the ice. However, since he played last night, logic suggests that it should be Samuel Montembeault's turn.
A surprising turn of events occurred as Cayden Primeau was the one going through the starting goalie routine during the morning skate.
"Samuel Montembeault and Cayden Primeau were both on the ice this morning. Primeau left first. Draw your own conclusions. I'm just telling you what happened. We'll have confirmations later."

This aligns with what Renaud Lavoie mentioned yesterday, suggesting that Primeau might see action for the first time this season, with Montembeault as the backup.
Jake Allen was absent from practice, but Amanda Stein, a journalist covering the Devils, opened the door to another possibility:
"Interesting here this morning for the Canadiens as it's goalie Cayden Primeau who gets off the ice first from the optional morning skate.
Jake Allen, who played last night was not on the ice, could he go again?
Sam Montembeault remains out with the skaters."
Amanda Stein, New Jersey journalist
We'll have to wait and see what the final decision is around 4:00 PM when Martin St-Louis speaks with the reporters.
