Some experts have suggested the possibility that the Canadiens might lose one of their top prospects this summer. Indeed, the Tricolore already has four goaltenders in its organization (Samuel Montembeault, Jake Allen, Cayden Primeau, and Jakub Dobes) and Kent Hughes will be forced to make a very difficult decision regarding Frederik Dichow.
The fifth round pick in 2019 must absolutely be qualified by June 1st if the organization wants to keep his services. Otherwise, the Norwegian goaltender will become a free agent and could sign with any NHL team.
However, Frederik Dichow is currently having an exceptional tournament at the World Hockey Championship. He is clearly proving to the Canadiens' management that he deserves a new contract, as he undoubtedly has the talent necessary to back up Jakub Dobes in Laval next year.
The Norwegian has won all three games he has participated in so far, defeating Austria, Hungary, and France. He has maintained an efficiency rate of 0.906 and an impressive average of 1.98 goals against.
