There it is, it's now confirmed with the Montreal Canadiens, the 5th overall pick from the last draft just signed his NHL entry contract.
He thus becomes the second player from the 2023 class to sign his first professional contract, after Adam Fantilli, and even ahead of the overall first pick, Connor Bedard.
At the moment, we don't know the organization's plan as to where he will play next year. His development could either go through Laval or another season in the Swiss Elite League.
In both cases, these are excellent paths for the 18-year-old, even though I would prefer to see him emulate defenseman Simon Nemec and David Jiricek, both drafted in the top-6 last year, and who made the jump this year to the AHL to familiarize themselves with North American rinks and hockey style.
