Still without a contract for the season starting tonight in the NHL, the Quebecer forward, Maxime Comtois, received a professional tryout from the Vegas Golden Knights during training camp.
Although he performed very well in the preseason games, many observers doubted he could secure a spot in Bruce Cassidy's lineup because of the number of forwards already signed and the team's salary cap situation.
Unfortunately for the 24-year-old left winger, the head coach of the Golden Knights confirmed earlier this afternoon that Maxime Comtois had been released from his professional tryout and would not receive a contract for the 2023-2024 season.
So, just hours away from the first game of the year, Maxime Comtois is without a team, and his future in the NHL seems increasingly uncertain. Do you think he will manage to find a new team in the coming days? One thing's for sure, it's a situation to closely watch!
Selected in the second round of the 2017 draft, the Longueuil-born forward spent the last five seasons with the Anaheim Ducks, tallying 38 goals and 48 assists (86 points) in 210 games. Notably, he had an excellent season in 2020-2021, with an impressive 33 points in just 55 games.
