Surprisingly, Brendan Gallagher is off to a fairly interesting start to the season, having scored four goals in 12 games. His passion is evident, and he seems to be in good health for a change, which is a rarity in recent years.

Quietly, he is producing at a pace of 27 goals and 49 points over 82 games, which would be his third-best career production. For this reason, some believe that the time to trade him may be approaching, while his value is not as low as it once was.
To make such a trade, the Canadiens would likely have to accept a bad contract in return, and Max Van Houtte proposed something interesting on social media.
To MTL:
Jonathan Huberdeau, his $10.5M contract for 8 seasons, and his 57 points in 91 games with CGY

To CGY:
Brendan Gallagher, his $6.5M for another 4 years
Josh Anderson, his $5.5M for another 4 years

Let's say the players agree. Which team says no, and why?

It's a good question. Huberdeau is a solid hockey player capable of being elite, but he has been unrecognizable for over a year. His $10.5 million contract lasting until 2031 is quite intimidating.
According to Van Houtte, the Canadiens would likely say no.
MTL probably says no, I love Huby, but his contract looks like one of the worst of the salary cap era right now; it seems like wishful thinking that a simple change of team would fix it.

Unfortunately, we agree with him. The additional four years on Huberdeau's contract would be a burden for the Canadiens, especially if he doesn't bounce back.
