Transaction: Kent Hughes just got lucky, and offers for Jake Allen could start becoming interesting

We must admit, if only to finally stop talking about it or to give Samuel Montembeault the net as often as he deserves, Kent Hughes must proceed with a goaltender transaction.

It is becoming increasingly evident that the most likely goaltender to leave is Jake Allen, but the Canadiens' GM has only received small offers involving late-round draft picks.

Despite injuries plaguing goaltenders across the NHL, the market remains very weak for netminders, but that could change quickly. Indeed, three other goalies got injured on Friday night, and it doesn't look good.

Anton Forsberg of the Ottawa Senators suffered a groin injury, and such injuries never heal quickly. John Gibson did not finish the game in Anaheim, and their third goalie, Lukas Dostal, is now thrust into the number one spot. Finally, Pyotr Kochetkov suffered a concussion for the Hurricanes.

These could be a very interesting trade target, especially as talks between the two teams have been ongoing for a few weeks. Now that they have lost another goaltender, it could greatly speed things up in Hughes' favor, especially since the Hurricanes are already without Frederik Andersen and have waived Antti Raanta, who has been called up since.
